Email: mailboxes or email forwarding?

In the same way as ordinary real world mail needs final destination, so does email. These are referred to as mailboxes just like they are in the real world. In the same was as web hosting is space on a server to store the files needed for a website, a mailbox is space on a server where mail is stored until you connect to the mail server to download it.

So mailboxes are vital... why give me a choice?

There is a possibility that you already have a mailbox and didn't know it! If you are with another ISP, chances are you will have a mailbox that you connect to, probably something like yourname@your-other-isp.co.uk. If you have a webmail account with someone, then this is also a mail box. If you want to keep all your email together then you might what to use email forwariding to send any email that goes to your domain to your exisitng mailbox, very simple!

What if I want different email addresses for different people on the same domain?

That is possible too! Say there are three employees, Ben, Sarah and Gerald. They can each have their own mailbox, eg ben@domains.co.uk, sarah@domains.co.uk and gerald@domains.co.uk (substitute domains.co.uk for your domain name)

We can also set up lists so sales@domains.co.uk or support@domains.co.uk can go to several people at the same time. This means that you don't have to have the hassle of checking other peoples' computers when they are out of the office. So sales@domains.co.uk could go to ben@domains.co.uk, sarah@domains.co.uk and gerald@domains.co.uk, support@domains.co.uk could go to peter@domains.co.uk, jeff@domains.co.uk and kim@domains.co.uk, while manager@domains.co.uk could get copies of both sales@ and support@.
